Our Teachers
Betty-Lynn Orton — Kindergarten
All her life, Betty-Lynn has been an avid world traveler, slowly checking off the ancient destinations on her bucket list. She has brought back with her a myriad of great local artwork, interesting artifacts, and wonderful memories of the people she has met and even better stories to share. Just ask her about trying to buy “soft sleeper class-tourist train tickets in China in 1990” and you’ll get her started…
Daniel Rodriguez — Kindergarten
This will be Mr. Rodriguez’s first year teaching Full-day Kindergarten. Mr. Rodriguez has worked as a primary teacher for 3 years. He enjoys teaching utilizing nature, arts, and play. When he is not teaching, he enjoys fitness, traveling, and rock climbing.
Kelly Fricker — Grade 1/2
Kelly comes from a small, rural town, where it wasn’t uncommon to see students arrive at school by horse, dirt bike or snowmobile. No kidding. Since moving to Toronto, she’s unearthed a love of food and can be found experimenting in her kitchen. When she’s not making her favourite peanut-butter-chocolate-popcorn, she can be found curled up with a good book and her cozy cat Rocky.
Lillian Tsim — Grade 2/3
I love to learn from new experiences and listen to stories of old ones. I relish adventuring on foot, water, or wheels with my partner and our dog, Umi, as we explore nature or even just the nooks and crannies of our city. When I’m not teaching in school, I am playing dodgeball…with adults, training kung-fu as a philosophy of life and not just a hobby. I am reading stories from around the world or rummaging through children’s books at used book stores. To me, life is about balance – working hard, laughing copiously, and embracing all that life has to give.
Eva Gelberger-Brown — Grade 3/4
Eva loves teaching and learning from her brilliant students. She enjoys travelling and exploring new places and trying new food. Eva considers chocolate to be a major food group and offsets her love of chocolate by taking her bull dog, Mousey for long walks. When Eva is not at school she can be found rock climbing or running after Mousey who enjoys stealing and riding on skateboards.
