Principal's Message
September 4, 2015
Welcome Back to Annette Street PS and High Park Alternative PS!
And to those parents, students and guardians who are new to the schools – Welcome! What a pleasure it is to be here heading into my 7th year as principal and my first year at Annette St and HPAS. I have heard so many wonderful things about this great community. I am very excited to be working alongside, Vice Principal, Edita Tahirovic who was transferred from Lucy McCormack PS over the summer! Yes – lots of changes for the new school year, but already we have formed many great relationships with the wonderful staff at both schools. Marlene Richardson continues as Office Administrator (OA) for HPAS and Esmeralda Knowles is the morning clerical at Annette St. The new OA at Annette St. is Corey Clark-McBride. Corey brings a wealth of experience to this position and we are very happy to have her here. We are all looking forward to a great school year with many exciting learning opportunities planned for all of our students.
We ask for your patience and support as we get to know our students, parents and the community. We want to carry on the many great traditions and events that define HPAS and Annette St and provide a safe and positive environment for every student to learn and thrive. I hope you have enjoyed a safe and relaxing summer and are ready to share your children with us. Staff have been busy preparing their classrooms for the 2015/2016 school year and have been incredibly supportive to our admin team as we learn more about Annette St and HPAS. Our caretakers, Brian, Miguel, Elzbieta and Edward have been working hard all summer to prepare the school for the 2015/16 school year and have done a fantastic job. The two classroom renovation is on schedule and we are hopeful that the remaining work will have very little impact on our day to day activities at school.
School Council Meetings Please plan to attend. Your involvement and support at any level is welcome and appreciated. We believe that strong connections between home, school and the community are critical to the success of our students and our school. There is babysitting available at the school.
